Apply for a Bursary
All three Hetland Educational Foundation (HEF) Awards are designed to enable students to pursue a post-secondary education in the field of their passion. Please read the descriptions for each award. Selection preference is given to those pursuing education in each of the below specific fields, however, students can still apply for any award if interested in a related field.
Forrest Hetland Award in Agriculture
This award was established in 2005 and is presented to a student continuing their post-secondary education in the field of Agriculture.
Pursue Your Passion Award
This award was established in 2018 and is presented to a student continuing their post-secondary education in a field of their choice, outside of agriculture or healthcare.
Doris Hetland Memorial Award in Healthcare
This award was established in 2005 and is presented to a student continuing their post-secondary education in the field of Healthcare.
Application Requirements & Information
Your application will be reviewed by the High School selection committee and the Hetland Educational Foundation selection committee. The applicant’s High School selection committee will review all applications and send their top recommendations to the HEF Selection Committee. While the HEF Selection Committee takes the recommendations very seriously, it is not the only selection criteria to determine who receives awards.
It is the applicant’s responsibility to send to their completed applications to their High School Selection Committee as well as the HEF Selection Committee (via the online application portal below).
Applications are reviewed and award recipients are selected based on a number of factors including academics, financial need, educational and life ambitions, sense of community and fitting the spirit of the award.
Submitted applications that are incomplete or late will not be reviewed. The deadline for submission for both committees is the date set by the applicant’s High School selection committee. Please check your high school’s deadline to ensure your application is not late.
If you receive a bursary from Hetland Educational Foundation, please forward your student number and proof of enrolment proving you are attending an accredited institution to hetlandeducationalfoundation@gmail.com. The sooner you do this, the sooner you receive your $2500.00 bursary.

Fill out the application form at the bottom of this page being sure to include a one page essay, most recent high school transcripts, letters of recommendation and signed financial/educational informational forms.

SEND APPLICATION TO HIGH SCHOOL SELECTION COMMITTEE
For the same application completed here, please send the completed application form (without Financial Information) to your High School Selection Committee.

IF CHOSEN FOR A BURSARY, PROVIDE YOUR MARKS
If you receive a HEF bursary, please email hetlandeducationalfoundation@gmail.com with your student number and proof of enrolment proving you are attending an accredited institution. The sooner you do this, the sooner you receive your $2500.00 bursary.
